Quick Update

Sorry for the delay in posting – we’ll have to write everything up but just to say that the surgery was successful. Dr. Constantini said that medically he calls it a success. He believes he got all the tumor – though it was bigger than expected. Preliminary testing and visual examination seem to indicate that it is an “astrocytoma” tumor. This means no further treatment if they got it all. However he wants to wait for the complete pathology report to confirm this – and that will take 10 days.

Chayim Zvi is recovering as expected. When I left the hospital this evening he was a ball of misery – ill from the anesthesia and from the surgery itself. He’s in the PICU (pediatric intensive care) and the doctor says that he is recovering normally for this sort of surgery. They do over 100 of this type of surgery a year at Dana Children’s, so they know what they are doing!

We recently switched our telephone line from land line to cable, so we’ve had some problems connecting to the Internet. We will do our best to continue to update everyone as regularly as possible. Unfortunately we have no Internet access at the hospital.

Thanks everyone for your support, calls, emails, messages and warm thoughts!
